The 7th grade experienced Pinkster Day at the Philipsburg Manor today. Pinkster Day originated as a religious colonial holiday brought by the Dutch to the New World, and also became a time of rest and celebration for enslaved African Americans. The 7th graders learned about African American colonial life on a plantation, and they enjoyed joining in Pinkster festivities such as drumming, dancing, and storytelling.
