7th Grade Norms and Work Habits

7TH GRADE NORMS AND WORK HABITS

RESPECT             RESPONSIBILITY               CIVILITY

A.       HOMEWORK AND PREPARATION FOR CLASS
1. Write all assignments in your assignment pad. Check the classroom assignment board, refer to Whipple Hill and/or call a friend.
2.  When in doubt, print it out! If a teacher specifies that an assignment is to be handed in, print it before you come to school. Otherwise, it will be considered late. You will not be allowed to print out during homebase or class time. Remember you may write out assignments if printing is an issue.  Work should be clear and legible.
3. In the upper left hand corner, put your name, date and section number/class color. On the top line put the title of the assignment. Do all of this before class. Keep the left margin clear for comments or corrections.
4. COME PREPARED TO CLASS WITH:
Homework/ Required Reading
Tablet
Writing implements (blue or black pens/ pencils and a green pen - no other colors)
Assignment Pad
Appropriate binder or folder/paper to write on
(Being prepared each day is a key element of your performance in class)
5. Effort and hard work are encouraged and respected. Some assignments and class work may be challenging or puzzling. At times, you may feel you do not understand the expectations; be willing to think and try the work. Do the best you can.
6. When you are absent, check Whipple Hill and contact a classmate about any missed class work, notes or homework. If you were absent one day, you have one day to make up the homework. If you were absent three days, you have three days to make it up and so on. You are also encouraged to see your teacher during TAG or at some other appropriate time.
B.       CLASS TIME
      1. Be on time for each class. Enter the classroom politely.
      2. Be respectful and courteous of the other learners in the class.
      3. Putdowns of any kind will not be tolerated.
      4. Ask questions that are relevant to the discussion or lesson. If your question is about personal concerns, see the teacher after class.
      5. Raise your hand and wait to be called on before speaking.
      6. Get all quizzes and tests signed.
      7. Your score on a test, quiz, evaluation or assignment is your business. Do not ask others about their scores/evaluations.
      8. You may use the bathroom or get a drink if it is an emergency. Go at an appropriate time and use the IN/OUT PASS in front of the room.
      9. Give your attention to whomever is speaking –classmates, teachers, guests etc. Sidebar conversations distract the person speaking and others around you.
      10. Check, Clean and Clear the area around your desk or table before leaving each class.
C.       TABLET
    1. Recharge your battery each night; bring backup battery to class.
    2. Heads up, Screens down when instructed to do so.
    3. Use the tablet appropriately - no games, private emails, or doing work for another class.
    4. IF YOU COME TO CLASS UNPREPARED (no homework, or missing texts or supplies), you will email Ms. Traub, your teacher, yourself and a parent. In the email you will write the specific assignment or how you were unprepared and explain the reason.
    5. Emailing your teachers- Use appropriate language and be respectful. Please note that if you email teachers in the evening you may not get a response until the next day. If you have difficulty with an assignment, try your best, do what you can, or contact a classmate.
